How I Became An Expert on Resources

Importance of Epoxy Flooring Flooring is very important in interior design especially in factories. This is because flooring in factories is subjected to wear and tear. The choice of flooring is very important as it is usually a major investment since it covers a wide region. The most common flooring adopted by many is the epoxy flooring. Its durability, minimum maintenance and environmental friendliness are the reasons why they are preferred. In both residential and commercial purposes, it is used. Epoxy floor coatings are usually applied over concrete walls as they have great binding capabilities and their surfaces are appealing to the eye. A type of plastic that is catalyzed is known as epoxy. A resin is the general name for it. It consists of the Bis phenol- A and polyamine compounds. The Epoxy resin was invented in the 1930’s by a Swiss scientist named Dr. Pierre Castam. The contact between the resin and the hardener causes a catalytic reaction. The creation of a strong chemical crosslink happens when the two bind together. After a short period of time, epoxies can be recoated as the binding technology enables this. There are three main varieties of epoxy flooring. 100% solid epoxy, solvent based and water based epoxies are the three epoxy flooring types. The best type of epoxy flooring among the three is the 100% solid epoxy. The water and solvent based epoxies are usually user friendly, however, they are not durable and cannot be used for thick coating like the 100% solid ones. The requirements needed in the designing of industrial floors are all met by the use of solid epoxies. The characteristics of epoxy floorings are their excellence in chemical resistance, strength and their tough nature. Abrasion resistance, waterproof, heat resistance and resistance to chemical corrosives are its additional qualities. They can be used in the flooring of residential places and children play areas because they are toxic free when dry. In the practical application of flooring, some instructions should be followed. Application of the mixed compounds is done to a minimum depth of 2mm after the compounds are mixed in proper ratios. Seven coats are needed in epoxy flooring to achieve a finished surface that is glossy. The base coat, one or two epoxy coats, broadcast coats of sand that is colored or flakes and a top coat are the types of coats.
Questions About Flooring You Must Know the Answers To
The major benefit of epoxy flooring is the ease of maintenance. Epoxy flooring is abrasion resistant, chemical resistant and protects against thermal shock making it appropriate for the protection of concrete walls. In an industrial set up, these are the experiences that the floors go through. Technology increases the use of epoxy flooring. Why not learn more about Sales?
